Eckerson is the director of research at TechTarget and founder of the BI Leadership Forum, a research service and online community serving the information and educational needs of BI directors and their teams. Wayne writes a popular weekly blog called "Wayne's World of BI" that focuses on industry trends and examines best practices in the application of business intelligence. His latest book, The Secrets of Analytical Leaders: Insights from Information Insiders, is due out in October.

According to Eckerson, "since most of our data environments are heterogeneous-and becoming ever more so-it makes sense to implement a virtualization layer that presents users and applications with a unified interface to access any back-end data no matter where it's located or how its structured.  A layer of abstraction that balances federation and persistence can do two things that every IT department must deliver to the business: lower costs and quicker deployments."

Rick Van der Lans, managing director and founder of R20/Consultancy, will provide the IT point of view on why now is the time for data virtualization. Van der Lans is an independent analyst, author, and internationally acclaimed lecturer specializing in data warehousing, business intelligence, and database technology.  Van der Lans is recognized as one of the world's leading authorities on data virtualization and just published a new book:  Data Virtualization for Business Intelligence Systems: Revolutionizing Data Integration for Data Warehouses.

Franklin Templeton on Driving Business Results
Michael McNab, Senior Vice President of Global Business Services at Franklin Templeton will detail "Driving Business Results Through Intelligent Data Consumption."  McNab, responsible for product data provisioning and with a current focus on data federation and virtualization, will provide a business sponsor's perspective of the many benefits-both anticipated and unanticipated-realized from data virtualization and will also share insights on lessons learned, success factors, and thoughts on some emerging opportunities.

Moody's Corporation on Next Generation Information Demands
Brian Clark, Managing Director, Chief Technology Officer at Moody's will speak on "Meeting Next-Generation Information Demands."  In his role, Clark is responsible for creating revenue opportunities and efficiencies through architecting, adopting and overseeing the use of innovative strategies and technologies to introduce new products, reduce costs and improve customer satisfaction.  Clark will describe how Moody's is transforming its Information Architecture to ensure alignment with business,  enable straight through processing, and increase efficiencies and speed to market with the use of technologies such as data virtualization and big data solutions.
